EGR removal questions
Okay, since I'm doing this LT1 intake swap, the EGR will not be used because the LT1 setup is a bit different. Anyways, where I live we don't test for NOx, so removing the EGR shouldn't affect my emissions testing at all, right? EGR is mainly just used to lower NOx output by putting unburnable air into the chambers to reduce temperatures. However, disabling the EGR will throw a code. Is checking codes standard for an emissions sniff-test, or is that considered the visual inspection? I would think the latter, but I figured I'd ask.
I'm also planning on removing my AIR and A/C systems to save some weight since my A/C doesn't work anyways, and the AIR tubes to my manifolds annoy me. I would think if I can get the car to pass with no EGR and no AIR, they shouldn't even bother looking under the hood. I'd buy a cat that doesn't need the AIR tube before I go into emissions testing, and I'd also put in a new O2 sensor. Is this something my buddy and I should be able to accomplish in a day or two (removing the two systems)? My A/C system is completely empty..

The best way is to have it changed from the chip. Also, if you remove the two get a 3 way cat without the AIR tube.

Yeah that will be the eventual plan, but its going to have to wait a few weeks at least. I think my buddy and I might rip all that stuff out tomorrow night. Is there anything we have to watch out for or remember to do, or is it pretty much all straight forward and just remove whatever is connected to the pumps (of course not the engine wiring harness! LOL)?
