Hooker Aerochamber & Cat converter

Yesterday I had my Hooker Aerochamber installed...it is the single in/dual out setup. If I listen really hard, I can hear a slight difference in sound (a little more throaty), but it is nothing like what I expected. I've read where it may take new mufflers time to 'break in,' so I'll give it a while to grow on me. I can say this--my headers sound better, if that makes since.

The original owner hollowed out the catalitic converter...it is the original equipment. Does this hurt performance in any way? Would I gain anything in terms of performance by taking it off & installing a 'high-flow' catalitic converter?

Thanks!

having a hollowed out cat might have improved performance if you welded a straight pipe through it... but as it is, i dont think you'd see too much of a difference between what you have and a high flow cat. the main thing you will notice is that your car will become alot quieter... a friend of mine had a hollowed cat on his 82 t/a, and when he replaced it to pass smog, the car quieted down ALOT.

I also just put a 3" Hooker catback on. At first it was pretty quiet, but I still liked the sound. Now I have driven it about 1300 miles and it has gotten alot louder. It is still nice and quiet at cruise but at WOT it is just rude

I love it
