LT1 T56 setup, what headers?

I've done some searching, but I'm not sure what my options are.

I'm swapping an LT1/T56 setup into an 86 IROC and need some advice. I want to run longtube headers...I guess my choices here are hookers or hedmans. I want to make sure that both of those sets of headers will clear the slave cylinder on the stock LT1 T56 bellhousing where it sticks out on the drivers side...I have no idea where the header collectors wind up, so it might not be an issue at all.

Next up, are there bolt in y-pipes that fit the longtubes available for these cars? Are there other companies making longtubes for them anyways?

After that, I want to go with a catback that is semi mellow. Right now my LT1 T56 setup is in a caprice and I have a true dual 2.5 inch exhaust system with hooker aerochambers. I am happy with the volume from that system, I don't want anything louder, but I'm not happy with the tone of the system...sometimes it seems as if it doesn't have enough edge to it.

Also, will a stock LT1 starter clear the available longtubes? It's not that big at all, so I am hopeful.

What do you guys suggest I do for a muffler option? I guess that having a local shop fab me up a true dual system isn't out of the question as I've seen it done to 3 cars locally now, but I'd rather keep cost down, and you usually find lower cost with pre-fab aftermarket parts. Suggestions on headers and everything else are all welcome too. I am willing to sacrifice some power to keep the car from getting any louder than my current car, but I don't want to sacrifice the ability to use my T56 with the GM style pull clutch setup.

Mike, I dont wanna steer you in the wrong direction but I beleive Mufflex makes Y-pipes for our cars with long tube headers. As far as the catback, you'll probably want to stick with the Hooker. You heard my car many times, its not obnoxious but has nice loud bark to it. I think you'd be happy with the Hooker catback. I'll probably see you around anyways and we'll talk about the diferent options you have.

Here's a good site with some pics, he's a member here -

Chris, what are the pipe diameters on the Hooker system? Those headers look like they will have miles of room for the T56 slave cylinder.
