Can't decide between Flomaster and Hooker cat-back
Im stuck between Catbacks. Ive heard both the American Thunder and ForceII catbacks for my 91Z, but Ive never heard the Hooker setup in person.....How loud is it? Does it have a "clean" sound to it, or is it like my Dynomax, and just rumbles alot?? My motor is just a mile EFI-383ci...and Im not looking for a drag race setup, as I drive this car everyday. Im not much on the Banks setup, just didnt like the sound inside the car. I know everybody's taste is different, but I just wanted to get some opinions between the two. Also, Would the Edelbrock TES system for my car be ok>? I hate to go with the Hooker 2055's being that I just had the Catco dual cat system installed on it....Any insight on those systems would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance and I hope I didnt "bash" anybody's taste in exhaust......

I used to have the Flowmaster, I switched over to the Hooker 3" and couldln't be happier. Its a much cleaner and more defined note than the Flowmaster, IMO.

I have the American Thunder catback and my friends has the Hooker catback. Both cars are 88 L98's. American Thunder is an all around louder exhaust. But the hooker is about just as loud when at WOT but much quieter when just cruising around then the american thunder.
I personally like hearing my exhaust all the time even if im only taking it to 3000 rpm. Thats why I like my AT system better. It your choice what kind of sound you want, and how loud you want it

Well, I heard a Hooker system on a stock LT1, so it shouldnt sound TOO much different on mine. I gotta tell ya, Im still liking the Flowmaster better. Im one of those freaks who likes the resonance inside the car, kinda reminds me of my dad's Chevelle BBC. As for the Edelbrock TES, Ive heard horror stories about fitment, gasket blow-out etc, so I might go with the Hooker setup and modify it, or try out the SLP.........thanks guys..

Another vote for the Hooker. The bigger the engine the better the flowmasters sound but the more of a restriction they become over other cat-backs.

I have a hooker catback, and it's definitely mean when I get on it. However, at cruising speed it's not too loud that I can't hear myself think. It was one of the first mods I did, too. It sounds excellent I think.
There's a blue 91 RS in town here and he has an L03 with the flowmaster catback on it- the damn thing sounds like it has ***** but the car barely moves. It sounds mean but it also sounds hollow. I'd rather have something with depth to it. Not to mention- his car is an L03
How about you ask yourself what your driving habits are... If you take a lot of highways to school/work you will get sick of the flowmaster drone. If you live in the middle of the city and want something to scare women and children, and be heard pulling into your driveway from a mile away, get the flowmaster. Remember that louder isn't faster. Also- flowmaster has one of the lowest flow-ratings in the industry!

I have another vote for the hooker system. Just installed a hooker cat back yesterday and I love the sound. It is pretty mild when the engine isn't loaded, but under load and especially at WOT it has an excellent tone. Fitment was also excellent. I've had flowmasters before and I definetly like the hooker system better.

Well guys.....here's an update. I went ahead and got the coated 2055's and just bought a single high flow cat and modified the AIR setup to work with it. I then went ahead and ordered the Hooker catback. Man I gotta tell ya, Im impressed. The motor sounds like it did on the engine dyno almost..
This car brings a smile to everybody that rides in it....(well, now more than before)
Thanks for recommending me to try the Hooker setup, I would recommend it to ANYbody. Thanks again guys....

prices/ size
I am now set on the hooker system too. I was just wondering what the price was for it with 3'' exhaust. If there is a part # or nething, it would be greatly appreciated.
