I got in kind of an argument today..and one of the kids I was arguing with was saying that a muffler such as the SLP loudmouth or a 40 series would be louder than straight pipes...I said I would agree at idle, but when you crack on it, a straigth pipe would whoop a mufflers ***...am I right to say that straight pipe with no muffler or cat is louder than any muffler...I think I just need written proof here...

exactly...however, a muffler is sometmes louder at idle than straigth pipes, right..on some setups i've heard at least...straight pipes setups i've heard really don't come to life untill you start mashin on it....

 

That could be true in some situations I guess where the pulses could bounce off of any baffles inside the muffler and sound somewhat "louder" at idle, but a straight pipe will almost always be louder than any muffled system. Really, it's common sense. Whoever you are argueing with has none.

 

well strait pipes vs muffler hmm whats louder Whoever is tellin u doesnt know what there sayin . Ask them whats the Purpose of the muffler and what it does
