Can I get away with this?
I recently cut off my cat to begin work on a completely new exhaust. Now that is definitely not going to happen so I need to go back to a stock setup. Can I buy a Catco or other stock-type catalyst that still flows a little better and place it into my cut up y-pipe and I-pipe and just weld it on both ends.
Im going to match input and output obviously but I wanted to know if it just get it to slip in to y-pipe and into my other end (stock cat-back system) then will it work properly like a stock system would?
Also, any info on where I can find a cheap cat thats better than stock but not necessarily really hi-flow?

ok nevermind. I have a new idea. Im going to go to pepboys and grab a corner pipe and slip it into my y-pipe and that will bend out to the side of the car like side-exhaust would. I figure I may as well do this until I get a new cat. I wouldnt mind the loudness either. Will it matter if i dump it directly off the side straight from the y-pipe? The stock y-pipe already goes very close to the side of the car on the passenger side so it doesnt take much to accomplish a side-exhaust (straight pipe without an actual pipe running to the back)
