Problem with my SLP Loudmouth

Guys, I know I have raved and raved about my Loudmouth, but I've run into some issues.

It's tooooooo LOUD!!!!!!!!! Here's the deal:

I just installed a 2200 stall converter and it's no longer civil for daily driving. The Loudmouth is moderately loud up until about 2500 RPM's and then it really starts to bark and get obnoxious. With the stock stall, I could drive all day and never get it over 2500, and it was "fairly" acceptable. When I romped on it, it screamed, and I LOVED IT!!!!:hail: Problem is with the new stall, I can no longer keep 'er quiet when I wan't, and I just don't know how long I can stand it. Here's what I'm thinking:

1) I can just deal with it...at least for now.
2) I can sell it as a pre-fabbed for thirdgen complete system, and replace it with another catback. (BTW, lemme know if you'd be interested in that)

3) I can replace the LM 4" pipe/muffler with a real muffler. I've already measured and I can fit a Spintech sportmanXL in there barely, and can easily fit a Spintech low profile muffler. I'd probably run a cutout too.

Whadya'll think??? I've got headers and a cam too, keep in mind. Don't get me wrong, it sounds GREAT, but it's too loud in the upper RPM's with that TC.

Excuse my ignorance but....

How did the stall effect how loud your car is? If your easy on the throttle and lets say you shift at 1800 rpm. What difference would it make if you were easy on the throttle with the stall you have?

I am more or less uninformed when it comes to stalls. All I know is that they shoot you in your peak rpm range faster when you floor it

Same thing happend to me. I thought my Hooker was too quiet when I had the stock stall. Put in the 3000 stall and it gets pretty loud now (since it has to rev higher to get moving now).

I'd try to run a bullet muffler where the stock SLP resonator is to quiet it down a bit.

The TC let's you more less bypass the lower RPM's and jump right into the powerband. That's great for performance, but were I used to casually accelerate from a stop at about 13 or 1400 RPM's, I now need to rev to about 2000 or higher. That's where the loudmouth starts gettin' loud.

Don't get me wrong, It's very streetable, heck 2200 isn't very much, but with the loudmouth, it's gonna drive me crazy.:lala:

I have a 3000 stall in my car, and only have to rev it to about 1400 to get moving. Maybe me having 3.73s is the difference?

The trans shouldn't even be getting anything until 2500, at the least, factoring for tolerances and characteristics of the engine output.

IMO

All depends on driving style and how loose the converter is. My 2800 raptor was a relatively tight converter. Could still start around 1600 rpm under a quarter throttle, but full throttle it would flash to stall speed in an instant. Usually only the really loose racing converters will have drivability like you mentioned.

Anyone who wants to know more about how a converter works should check out this link: http://www.phoenixtrans.com/html/technews_page1.html

I don't remember if it had anything specific to how loose or tight a converter will be, but I do remember that it made for a great read.
