Header install on passenger side

Hi, I cant get my TES headers in on the passenger side of the car. I took the starter out, and it still wont work from under the car, and it wont work going in from the top. I was thinking of taking off the A/C components for more room, but I wasnt sure if its ok to release everything into the air...I think I heard that it wasnt. But anything would help. thanks

unbolt your passenger side motor mount and jack the engine up a couple inches (dont hit your dizzy cap and break it by jacking the engine up too much). Then drop it in from the top.

BTW, what size socket did you use to get your manifolds off? I'm trying to get mine off right now but none of my sockets seem to be the right size

thanks, I used a 9/16 on all the old bolts... be carefull on the very back bolt on the passenger side. There are two nuts, 1 for the heat shield and 1 for the actual bolt. When I tried to loosen the heat shield nut, the whole bolt broke loose and the heat shield twisted around the nut. Therefore I couldnt get a good grip on it and then i stripped it...So, I had to cut the heat shield with a combo of a dremel and a straight hack saw just to twist the bolt out. Hope you could find a way to stop that from happening to you!

Is there anything else I could do to get that header in? Or is that the best way.

I hear that in the 87 and older cars you need to cut a notch out of the AC compressor bracket. You perhaps should remove your AC compressor and put it back in after you get the headers in.

And thanks for the bolt size

well...I found the magic spot...don't ask how but the header slipped right in! I didn't need to remove any A/C components or lift the engine thankfully. Thanks for the input.
