New Exhaust System

Alright here is the deal. I'm am pretty much replacing my whole exhaust system starting with a new catalytic converter (mine is spitting out some nasty smoke) and ending with dual outlets. I want something that will add power and sound good and loud. A friend mentioned to me about doing straight dual exhaust from the converter to the back without a muffler. Also I hear about not having any cats at all. Any info. or opinions about this topic would be wonderful.

If you have smog inspections, forget about losing the cats.

Dual exhaust with no muffler (or cats)? Are you talking about straight pipes? Loud. Add "cop magnet" to the comment above.

GM made a nice dual cat exhaust that went on the 1LE, IIRC. Should give you a bit more power.
