It won't give any more power.

It may not hurt the car.

Certain TPI systems assume the presence and operation of the A.I.R. in the PROM tables.

it really wont do much for power...but if you remove the pump and all the hoses and such for sure you'll have a cleaner lookin engine....i did the same cause smog pump went out...and now....A question to anybody who can answer ....once smog pump is removed will the EGR valve and pcv valve still funtion ? im not really sure myself but would like to know

There's a tech article on the main page about removing the smog pump: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...rpentine.shtml

Trash the pump

I highly recommend getting rid of the smog pump just because that is one less thing to fail on you. I was at an autocross race 5 hours from home when my smog pump seized up. Thankfully I had enough tools to rip out the **** inside that caused it to seieze.

When I got home I went to the store and found a belt that would route around it. There is an article here that tells just how to route around the pump.

Bottom line, unless you are a tree hugger get rid of it.
