cat-back or mufflers?

I'm having a hard time finding a cat-back system for my '83 T/A and I'm wondering what the difference is if I were to get a whole cat-back system or if I got the mufflers and had an exhaust shop custom bend the rest... Also, is the Flowmaster 40-series muffler what is used for the "Force 2" system that is quiet at idle/cruising, but loud when you stomp on it? Thanks for any info.
