catco converter
im looking for a free flowin cat to free up my exhaust system. right now its stock so i was planning on changing the cat eventually anyways. so i was wondering if catco makes decent cats. i was also wondering if that freeflowing cat will give it a deep roar as well. i have heard alot of talk about cats chocking the sound of flowmasters and thats what i am going to get eventually anyways. thanks!

Do you have a single cat or dual cats?
From what I understand, in '91 the LB9 could have either a small single cat or dual small cats. The recommended 9118 is for '86-'90 large single cat (Summit says '87-'89, in fact).
The 9118 will work as long as you do the rest of the exhaust to match - including the y-pipe.
I'm not sure what you mean by "chocking the sound of flowmasters ". Mellowing out the sound? Making it too quiet? All I know is mine crackles and is plenty loud.

Anyone know if the Catco is a full three inch through the converter? See some that are necked down right at the converter body.

Well for one the Cat dosen't have a 3" pipe though it. All it has is a 3" in & out. If you want a straight pipe put one on.

Dood, go to http://www.performance-curve.com and order a Magnaflow/Carsound cat. I just ordered one for my IROC, a 3 incher with air tube, and it cost like $65.
First off go to the Magnaflow web site and enter all the data for your car, and they'll tell you their part number that is the correct replacement cat. Then go to the Performance-Curve site, and enter that part number, and you'll get the price.
The 3 inch, medium length cat with air tube is part number 94019.
