Flowmaster idiots!

just thought I'd let you guys know that people at flowmaster are all out retarded. I bought a full 3" exaust off of my cousins 91 firebird formula headers all the way back. and it all bolted right up to my '84 without a problem(except for the headers but I wont get into that because without taking alot of stuff apart it isn't fun) well just being nosy flowmaster says that the exact system I have fits ONLY 88-92 camaro/firebird. what kind of bs is that? I even called them and a rep told me the same thing. just thought I'd make you guys aware. by the way I'm in love with how it sounds it's headers to y-pipe...all 3 inch pipe(replaced the cat with stright pipe) and 40 series muffler and it's only single outlet so anyone who knows third gens and isn't paying attention will think I got a 6 banger not a H.O. 305 cause I took the emblems off

Emitions reasons. Thats also why there are "TPI headers" and "TBI headers" for these cars.

Welcome to the board, local guy!

Flowmaster's techs are not idiots. In fact, they assume you are. And they are correct. That system will only fit an 88-92 car. It will fit other years with modifications, like you have made. The only difference between the years is the size of the pipe and the way it connects to the converter.

And the hanger for the pipe on the rear.

I used a kit for an 82-85 or whatever it was, had to modify the hanger, and the flange for the cat.

(not flowmaster though, cuz flowmaster is obnoxious)

Didn't realize the hangers were different. My original LG4 car is the same setup as both of my coworkers (85 TPI 305 and 84 2.8). I knew the hangers were different on the 4th gen systems which also fit our cars (I've got an LS1 Mufflex, and LOVE the Flow BTW), but not 3rd gens.
