Sound difference with Headers

Would it definatly be noticible? Im really looking after the sound not the performance.

Then don't bother. Manifolds typically "sound" better than headers.

Opinions vary, of course, but I'd say the best thing to do with regard to sound with a V6 is to keep it quiet.

Manifolds sound better than headers? Really? I'm not doubting you, cuz I have no idea at all. How so do they sound better?

Kind of a similar question, I have a 305 and I'm looking at just a better sound (but if I accidently gain HP, so be it). Should I put headers and a different exhaust sytem, just headers, or just exhaust? Thank you

Headers on weak motors typically sound worse than manifolds. I was not happy with the sound of my 305 with headers and a catback and thought it sounded better with the manifolds. That is unless you like the sound of an old truck exhaust drone in your 3rd gen car. The sound doesn't match the car. Basically it just exposes the weak sounds that come with the weak parts that plague the 305's and V6'ers. Now a cammed motor is a different story. Motors that have 300+hp without a doubt sound better with headers. This is all opinion though since everyone has different tastes.

So what kind of exhaust would you suggest for my 305?

Hooker 2055's, mac or SLP headers. Your cat-back choice will depend on how loud you want it and your oeverall sound preference. A single 3" cat can be found off of ebay to tie it all together. Or, you can buy the TPI direct fit cat and have everything bolt right up to whatever parts you choose. Providing you select TPI applications.

If I left my manifolds on, what type of exhaust would you recommend? I'd like a good, deep, fairly loud rumble (if possible with a 305). What about true duals (I don't know if thats the right word - but, ya know, just straight back from the manifolds [well, obviously not -straight-])? Anyways, sorry that I really don't know what I'm talking about. Thank you.
