sick of exhaust options

i have been looking into buy some headers, but this has become a major pain in my ***.

- does the hooker 2055 have provisions for the o2s?
- are the AIR tube welded in or screwed in?
- do i need the modifed a/c bracket for these headers like the slp?
- and wtf happend in 1986 that my 85 is so different that i cant use these headers?

Yes
Welded
No
Nothing

You can use them on your 85. The AIR and cat connections most likely have a variance to them causing the year descrepency. Nothing a little fab work won't take care of.

The cat connection changed.

As Shifty said, you can use them, they just won't "fit" your factory exhaust system. And, if it doesn't "fit" your factory exhaust system, they aren't going to say you can use it - because they say the system is "certified" for the years, models, and engines listed in the application. If it won't "fit" your cat, which it won't without modification (and please, please don't modify that y-pipe to fit your cat - Please!), they aren't going to say it will.

Check other header application charts, you'll often see if they are not emissions-certified, they'll say they fit '82-'92.

i bought the hooker 2055. the 2055 are mild steel and only a 5/16 flang. most people have had exhuast leaks at the flang. hooker reps say the engine vibrates the bolts loose, other say its the inferior flang and weak steel. so to combat this, i have bought a thick *** gasket from a local speed shop, and might use red lock-tight once the flang has warp. has anybody not had a loose bolt problem with these headers w/o using stage 8 bolts?

Loctite won't do anything for you in that kind of heat.
