exhaust leak

My car was running very loud. Thought that I had blown a collector gasket. I removed the collector from the header to find a small hole. I've heard of some kind of tape that you can wrap around to fix these holes. has anyone ever used this. What is it called? I went to a part store near me and they looked at me like i was crazy. The people working in the shops today think that if they have seen "fast and furious" that they know everything. This really is only for a temp fix. This is not a daily driver but a project car that maybe sees a sunday drive a few times a month. In the summer im going to drop a newly built 350 with new exhaust. So i really just want something temp so i can work on it and not wake the whole street up every time i fire her up. I could get it welded by my wifes uncle but i would rather fix myself if i could and get her back on the street. Please give suggestions. The hole is the size of a pea.

There sin't anything besides metal itself that will withstand the heat of exhuast gasses. You may want to see if you can get a dab of weld on the hole.

at walmart they have what your looking for. its actually aluminum tape, very thin. its labeled as something like exhaust tape, its only a couple bucks for a roll. is in the automotive section with all of the wiring stuff like butt connectors, electrical tape and other auto electric stuff, i think thats what your looking for.

when i had my phantom i used that stuff to wrap around my intake and it worked pretty good for reflecting the heat so im pretty sure if you wrapped it around your exhaust a bunch of times it would stay and plug up your hole. make sure the exhaust pipe is nice and clean before you stick the tape on there otherwise itll just stick to the dirt and fall off..
