2 1/2 is still restrictive, but not as bad as stock... as long as it's all mandrel bent.

I'd still rather have 3" even w/ a stock motor.

I have 2.5" on my my car with a 2 chamber flowmaster and 2.5" tailpipes and as far as I'm concerned for a daily driver it SOUNDS GREAT and doesn't seem overly restricitve

It's worlds better than the stock piping. And if you arent going anywhere past exhaust mods then 2.5" should be fine.

3" would yield you more gains, and would give you better gas mileage (if you can keep your foot off the loud pedal that is)

Yea I'm 17 and this is my first car, I've had it for about a year and a half. According to my step dad I'm not going to get any performance mods anytime soon (at least not till I'm 18).
Sort of embarassing but hey, I think that I'm going to keep it at the stock 305 and have a show car

if you don't want to go fast, that exhaust is great, but even if you do wanna go fast, i have gone as fast as 14.5 with a CRAPPY y-pipe and a less than optimal intake manifold with that same catback. i imagine with a better engineered y-pipe(had the hooker 2460's and they didn't have a y-pipe available at the time) and the intake i have now, it'd probably have gone 14.2's.
