putting on exhaust tips

Hey everyone. Yesterday I just got some new exhaust tips. I'm not sure what is the best way to put them on. Any tips?

Here's a picture of them.

Providing that the ID of the tips matches the OD of your exhaust pipes you can just measure, cut and weld. Measure the tips and how you want them to be in relation to your bumper and then slide them on and then tack weld them in place.

Go to some kind of shop, like a muff shop, repair shop, or even just a metal-work shop, and have them welded. Its the best way, and will probably cost next to nothing.

I just put those tips on my car yesterday. I have 2.5" ID pipes, and they woudn't fit. I had to grind em and then file them down. My stock tailpipes had a bend downwards at the end, so I had to cut them off because I wanted the pipes to come straight out (not angle down). This also ment that the tail pipes had to come lower, or it would hit the bumper. So I ended up just dropping from the muffler forward. Seems like more work but makes it much easier to cut, weld, and adjust when its on the work bench. Then I just connected it back up to the intermediate pipe loose, and adjusted it till I liked it, and through a clamp and a few spot welds on there. They look awesome, and actually improved the sound.

I'm looking at doing the same thing. But I'm having trouble finding out what my stock O.D. pipe is to buy the correct inlet on the tips. Does anyone know what size is stock on a trans am tailpipe? And where did you get those tips?

Grab a tape measure and measure them. If you don't have atleast a grinder, go and by a 4 1/2"angle grinder and a cutting disc. These tips you have to get weld them on, if you don't have one just take it to a shop and get em' to do it for ya. I did it myself cause I didn't really trust anyone to care enough to get em' even, and at the height I wanted. I ghot mine from Canadian Tire for $17 a peice, I guess you don't have crappy Tirew down there though http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortmen...=1113071273287
