Flowmaster 80 series question

Has anyone out there with a 305 TBI put a Flowmaster 80 series on their stock exhaust?? How does it sound? I'm thinking of getting one and removing my cat too.

thanx

I had that set-up for a while, sounded pretty good. But anything will sound better than stock.

I got the flowmaster 80 on my (otherwise stock) 91 RS with the TBI. It has a nice deep sound, but it isnt exactly loud. I recently discovered a hole in my i pipe (cuz my muffler was falling off) and got it replaced with a 3'' versus the stock 2 1/4'' it had. My recomendation, if ur gunna spend the money to get the flowmaster 80, spend the extra to get the 3'' i pipe. its WELL worth it cuz its louder and deeper.

I got my 80 for $200 from a local shop installed with 2 1/2'' tailpipes and 2 polished stainless 2 1/2'' tips. i later got my i pipe for $100 installed and i was kicking myself for not getting them done at the same time (with the muffler he was offering it for 85). I like the sound of my flowmaster (especially with the i pipe), but it still is kinda mellow on how loud it is, but i love the pitch. if i ever get my microphone working on my laptop, ill take some sound clips.

hope this helps

P.S.

if you remove the cat, itll sound even better, but i cant do that cuz i live in Cali and they have all their evil smog rules.... but if u can take off the cat and do the 80, do it, but get a bigger i pipe

Whats the tail pipe setup like on an 80? Is is split duals or both on one side? I already have a 3" i pipe, but with a stockish muffler, and want to upgrdae, but for sure want split duals. Thanks.

yea, the flowmaster 80 has the split duals like ur looking for. some of the 40s and 50s also r single in/dual out, but the 80 sounds best imo.

Are the 80's louder than the 40's or the other way around?

40 series/ 2Chamber are alot louder. 80 series has a nice deep rumble at idle and very noticeable at WOT.
The 40 series/2 chamber is very deep & load at Idle and very load at WOT, and can be heard from far away.
