Just research what type of paint you are going to use. It seems nothing works 100%, except having them coated. VHT paint isn't bad, but then again, I don't have to deal with road salt, either.
As far as the ypipe goes, you're going to have to figure out which headers they are. Do they have a ball joint flange or not? Are they shorties? I thought all the O2 sensors were in the header collector.... if not, then you might have to buy one (O2 bung) and have it welded on. The further it is from the head, the longer it will take to warm up and read accurate.

All headers will rust unless coated. Surface rust can be blasted off and then you can prep your header the way you would like. Ceramic coating is the best way to go and far better than anything you can do in your oven at home.

ok so with those headers and the Y-pipe i will have 3"s all the way to the stock location correct? also do the headers come with the 02 sensor location already there or in the collector?

From what I have seen here locally on my car and others with O2 sensors and headers you might want to consider getting a heated O2 sensor. Seems to be a hit or miss proposition if the O2 sensor will work correctly in headers.
When I was dataloging my car I noticed the O2 sensor was recording a little strange compared to other charts that I have seen. It was an AC Delco unit with less than 5000 miles on it and on SLP headers with the stock SLP location.
Changed to a heated AC Delco unit and now things are the way they should be.
