They're actually called air tubes. or something like that AIR something. anyway, chop em off and weld the holes shut. as long as you really dont need the cat, they really arent that important.

theres a tech article somewhere.

Its an acronym...

A.I.R. - Air Injection Reaction

You can remove them just as Chillen described, but then you wont be sending any air to your cat so it can get hot enough to work properly. Thats a problem if you have a cat (it will plug up) but its not a problem if you dont have one.

so then how do newer vehicles do it then since they dont have the AIR system, yet their cats work fine and dont clog up....i guess it is something that happens in the long run then and not like within a couple of years...say 2 or 3.....but since i already installed them then i guess i will find out...and this was on my brothers car...on mine i am doing the same thing.....once more question....is my set up a good one...someone tell me...in their opinion what they think of course.....

Hedman shortys (painted) w/ CATCO universal cats and Borla XR-1 round mufflers using 2 1/2' piping....(round or oval..havent decided) exiting through the sides....

If its a single exhaust, dont go any smaller than 3".. if its a dual exhaust system, 2.5" is just right. The Hedman headers are a good set, I have a set of them. I have no idea about the mufflers, I don't really know anything about Borla stuff.
