want stock sound.
I have an 83 Z28 (stock LG4) with stock cat and need to get a new catback system. From all the searching i have done it appears, but is not conclusive, that the Dynomax catback is the closest to stock. Is this true?
thanks,

Reports are the Dynomax is one of the quieter ones.
However...
Is there any particular reason you're perpetuating the crime that is the LG4 exhaust? In other words, do you really want to spend money now that my hamper future performance improvement? There may be a better choice than an LG4-application cat-back, even within the Dynomax brand.

I'd suggest maybe the Hooker exhaust for '83-85 HO cars. Its a 3" pipe, dual 2.5" tips, and a hooker muffler (duh). It has a flange for a 4-bolt cat, like the HO cars had (again, duh). With a cat, stock Y-pipe, and stock exhaust manifolds, and a tame 305, I doubt it would sound much different from stock. It would free up a noticeable amount of power though, and its a fairly cheap system. $215 at Summit and Jegs.
The Hooker P/N is 16822 for that system.

I had the Dynomax super turbo 2.5'' muffler and 2.5'' tips on my stock lb9, and it sounds very close to stock, very quiet, but has a nicer idle than stock imo. But hey, it was a good price all together and my exhaust never gets annoying as a daily driven car.
hope this advice helps : )

That is exactly what i wanted to know. I am planning on keeping the car, and the LG4 stock.
