banks stainless catback is rusting!

tail pipes are rusting from the inside out, and it looks terrible from behind the car. this system is brand new, just installed last month!!! apparently the chromed tail pipes are not stainless after all? the rest of the system is holding up. i guess i'll have to clean it out and spray them or something.

Yeah I have heard of this happening. I don't know why they wouldn't make that part stainless.

I am still happy with my borla

Chances are the tips are steel and junky. Hooker did the same thing with their areo chamber kits. You can;t save them. I would look for replacements soon before the cancer eats them up and flakes off all the chrome.

That's why I went with the Flowmaster American Thunder...its 3" Stainless tips are awesome and don't have a spec of rust on them inside or out...I've had em on for about a year too.

I'd say someting is fishy. I've had my edelbrock cat back on for 6 years already and no rust what so ever.

yeah i'm going to give them a call on this tomorrow..the outside is great but the insides look like awful. even if they send me new ones out of stainless i'll still have to cut off the ones that are on there and weld the new ones on. i cant complain about the performance of it..it's a great system but why sell a fully stainless system and cheap out on the most visible part?
