i have a 1985 firebird 305 V8 5-speed, i want a duel exhaust setup but i also want to lower my car. my exhaust scrapes as it is at stock height so how can i get this to fit with out messing it up by scraping it all the time. it looks like there is only enough room to run one pipe, or should i think about getting a single 3" pipe instead.

*Question: Do you need two O2 sensors to run duals and dual cats?

Hey what's up, I've been thinking about duals too. If you search enough, you'll find threads with pics of various setups, from twin pipes on the stock routing, to true duals and side pipes. A single three inch would work fine, IMHO, and run the biggest flowing muffler possible.

My catback single-into-dual flowie just fell off, and the car sounds WAY better, and has more power. A little raspy, but I'm just going to throw a FlowTech Purple Hornie (a good glasspack) on it for now. After smogging it in a week or two, then I'll do duals, with dual cats, then I'll have two years to run with the dual cats (even though it will run cleaner, might not pass because it ain't stock) before changing back--may just use Y-pipes and plates to make a single to dual setup.

Of course headers are the most important thing, and a good Y-Pipe.

P.S. I was surprised, my car sounds dang good mufflerless, and I'm sure helps make use of my K&N and open element. My flowmaster was totally killing my sound, now my motor sounds like a V8 should!
