What should I do now...

I've got the Hooker cat-back system ordered and I noticed that my cat has a hole in it. I can touch the spongy material in side. I don't feel like spending a ton of money to get a new hi -flow one. Should I just make it a straight pipe? (I live in Indiana so I don't have to worry about emissions testing). Thanks.

If you don't have to pass emmisions, I would just put in a straight pipe until you have enough money for a new cat....or not

How would I go about putting a straight pipe in? Is there a way to do it without welding anything.

Yeah, you can do it without welding. Just go buy a piece of pipe the same diameter that is about 8 inches or so longer than the piece you cut out. Then buy a pipe expander of have a muffler shop expand the ends so they slip over the existing pipes...then clamp and your done.

why dont yo just replace it with a 60$ catco converter? we need to start being responsible for our car even if we dont have any emissions to pass. boy i sound like a mother but honestly i think you should just replace it with a catco aftermarket one they arent that expensive. just my 2cents

Gee too bad I didn't see this post earlier, I would have given you my cat off my 88 Iroc, only has 50,000 miles on it. I removed mine and installed a pipe, threw the cat in the garbage. Didn't think anyone would want that old door stop. Larry.
