fitting concern

My '83 camaro is running a '80 L48 vette engine which i presume is the same size as the later 5.7 engine ? i live in the U.K and am after headers for the above car. The problem is im not to sure what headers will fit with out major modification. any ideas guys. i have access to most makes over here but none of the suppliers seem to know whats going to be a straight forward fit and what will be a nightmare

Any of the 3rd gen shorty headers available with a y-pipe to the stock cat location will fit with a minimum of hassles. The biggest issue will be mating the y-pipe to the stock cat, which isn't too big of a deal for someone with a torch and pipe expander.

If you don't need to keep the cat, then it's fairly simple to remove it and run a piece of straight pipe from the header y-pipe to the exhaust pipe.

You could say it goes without saying.
