manifold bolt help please

Anyone have a trick to get the locking thing from the factory off farthest towards the firewall bolt on the driver's side? I've been struggling with it for at least a hour.

A long screwdriver and a hammer usually takes care of it. I take it you can't get the tab bent back?

I can't help much because I cheated - took the engine out of the car first.

A small pry bar ( http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...169&pricetype= ) might get the job done.

Can you get to it from the bottom? Another thing that I've done in the past...when the tabs are real rusty is to find another socket that will go over the tab and bolt head and give it a turn, it will sometimes break the tab off.

I used a really small flat head screw driver. A stubby one.

It was a huge PITA. I don't know why GM decided to do that to them.
