2055 header pass. AIR tube backwards??
Ok i got my Hooker Super Competition 2055 headers, and i was just about to put the passenger side on, and what do ya know, the AIR tube is the wrong direction from the valve it has to be screwed into. please tell me i missed something here.
here is a pic of what i've got, the circles show what im talking about. and yesss, i am very sure its on the correct side. the driver side AIR tube points to the rear, whats up with this side? Am i suposed to re-run the hose so that it comes from the front? this picture doesnt show the bulky black plastic valve(i think) assembly that the AIR pump pumps into, but i guess you guys know what it looks like anyway.
i really hope this all sounds dumb and there is just something i missed. im quite short on time with this.
thanks very much for help on it.

You need to take that loose at the hose clamp and thread it on the header. It is supposed to have the hose clamped part facing foward....

hmm, this is an 86 Iroc, thats just the way the AIR line goes, its not modified or anything. I have a feeling its about to be though. eventually, id like to remove the air, but for atleast this first echeck i wont.
does anyone else have the air tube coming from the rear on the passenger side??

On later TPI F-bodies, there were two check valves on the passenger side. One was on the pipe to the cat and one was located on the A.I.R. tubes coming off the exhaust manifold before the A.I.R. diverter valve.
I would think that to be emissions-compliant, the headers have to be designed so they do not bypass the diverter valve.

I don't see the problem either. The original manifold tube check valve faces the front, and the fitting onto which the check valve goes on the headers tube faces the front.
You're missing something here.

no thats the thing, my original AIR check valve faced the back. On both sides it is screwed onto the the manifold's AIR tubes from the rear.
maybe my 86 is unique this way?? its an 86 LB9 305
im very sure it originally came from the back, because nothing seems to of ever been replaced or tampered with. nobody would replace stock manifolds with another stock manifold.
