Went looking for some Hedmans, came home with a set of Hookers
I went to Summit Racing the other night to pick up a set of Hedman headers along with the Y-Pipe. I wanted the Hedmans mainly because I had heard good things about them and they were within my budget.
Turns out the Y-Pipe that is to be used with the headers had a ball-flange type set-up and the headers themselves did not. After pulling every set of Hedmans and all of the Y-Pipes in the warehouse, we soon found they were all that way. The salesman said that Hedman is beginning to change over all of their systems this way, thus causing for the mismatch.
They tried to sell me a set of FlowTech's, but I said no thanks. I said I would check what JEG'S had. The salesman grabbed his Hooker sales book and said he would cut me a deal on the 2460's with the matching 16767 Y-Pipe. I ended up walking out the door for $305 and pretty satisfied.
Today I blasted off all the black paint they came with and began coating them with POR-20. I did one coat tonight and will do the next coat tomorrow.

nice find man! If you wanted some hedman headers, should have got a hold of me. Im looking to put some hooker longtubes on mine and get rid of my hedman headers, if your still interested, let me know. O ya, great find on the headers and they are looking good too. May i ask why you went with mid length headers instead of full length or longtube headers?

I installed the headers today and took off my tired old cat-back.
Open headers sound very nice.
Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to put the rest of the exhaust on.

Im interested
Hey 87 350, I am interested in your headers if 82firebird does not want them. Could you tell me a little about them? I removed my smog equipment so they do not have to be AIR compliant. Does it have the AIR stuff? Are they coated? Also do you have the matching Y-pipe with it? How old are they,,,,shape? Sorry for the questions, this may not be the place to do it, if you would like to email me about it I am at hotrodjones@fuse.net. thanks, Larry.
