I would like to start a thread clearly showing how those few members running vortec heads solved the severely close #7 spark plug from hitting the headers. The vortec heads come A LOT CLOSER at the #7 plug area than the regular straight angle heads do. What did everyone do? Is there anyway around this issue than to denting in the downpipe?

I remember reading somewhere that someone modified his own spark plug to solve that #7 problem. I'll try & find it later.

Ya. I heard about that too. Any information on modifying a spark plug?

Anyone? What is involved in shortening a spark plug?

what I did was beat the crap out of the tube. Even then the fit is tight and the boot touches the header so I got some high quality (thick) heat tape and put about 4-5 layers of it on the boot. Works perfectly.

I had no problem with #7 but then again I have SLP 1 5/8 headers. Did have problem with #5, I just shortened my spark plug socket and drilled the center to fit the ceramic part of the plug.
