Cat interchangeability

Hoping someone can help, did a search & couldn't find an answer

Trying to get my car back on the road after swapping in a 305tpi... I need a new cat & found there's a serious price difference between direct fit cats.

A cat for a 305TBI is $135 while a cat for a 305TPI is $295.

Can I use the TBI cat on my TPI motor with out running into problems?

The car has to go thru emissions testing, otherwise I'd ditch the cat

Did you swap in the TPI exhaust? If not, then the cheaper cat will work. If you did, get the TPI cat.

The TPI cat is about US$120 from Summit (CTO-9118), not sure what that translates to by the time it reaches your door.

nope didn't swap the exhaust... come to think of it, the cat back system is still the V6 stuff (High Flow I'm sure) :-S. Tho it does have headers.

Maybe I'll just stick to the universal fit cat & patch in the difference

You could always try ebay, I got a set of cats for my carbed engine for $35 each.
