full exhaust question
i just picked up a 1991 firebird formula WS6 today....305TPI.... and it needs an exhaust to pass safety.... it has the dual cat set-up..... so i was wondering what the best setup would be trying to stay in a 800-900$ range.... will the 2055 hookers work?

Welcome aboard.
You don't say where you live or if you have to pass any emissions inspection or testing. If a safety inspection is all you need, then what you need to replace depends upon what is worn out.
Only Edelbrock and Hedman make headers specifically for dual cats anymore. 2055's can be made to work, but you have to cut off the "Y" and route tubes to the cats. If that portion of your existing exhaust is okay, you may be able to reuse it.
The Hedman headers for dual cats are about $350. Cats another $250-$400. Cat-back systems run from $300-$500. Doesn't sound like you'll quite make it with your budget if you need to have any of it done by a shop.

Keep the dual cats. They are apparently pretty rare. If you plan on keeping it and the selling it MUCH later, it will be worth it. Currently the dual cat setup (N10) is running about $950.00, if I remember correctly. (From Next Generation Parts.) So it would be an expensive replacement. Also, some places are much pickier about the inspections they do. Even if you replaced the whole exhaust, they may say that since it is supposed to have a dual converter exhaust and it doesn't, FAILED. Now go get it replaced with what shpould be there. Make the dual converter exhaust work in out in your favor. Make it flow good, sound good and allow you good horsepower.
