Edelbrock TES headers - clearance with A/C box

Just installed the headers with a new motor; there isn't much space on the passenger side near the A/C plenum. Maybe just enough for some hi-temp insulating material.

Has anyone with the TES headers had problems in that area? Scorching that plenum would sure produce some nasty fumes in the passenger compartment!

TIA

Its fiberglass so itll take some abuse. There is, however, plastic insulation on the inside that can melt. Ive never had problems exept when there was some ignition problems that caused a few primaries on that side to glow. It browned the fiberglass near the header primary. Probably putting some header wrap around the headers in that area would be a good idea.

Here's what happens when you run those headers after about 3-4 years. Tried taking out the A/C in one part but it was so brittle, I pulled it out in small chunks. Never had an issue of things smelling. If I were you, get some refective heat tape or something and stick it on the box, DON'T use header wrap unless you want to ruin your headers. You can do a search on why header wrap is bad on a street car.

Damn, your headers mustve been hot as hell. The only problem area with mine was a spot that had turned brown from a glowing header primary. This was after several years of using it as a daily driver. Guess it all depends on how much heat the engine dumps out the exhaust.

Yeah, I know how bad it is. But sometimes small bits of wrap are the only way to protect wiring, delicate electronics near by, etc. from excessive heat.

I've had the TES headers, and clearance is tight, but with the airflow throught the engine bay, adn the cowl, i haven't had any problems.
