Getting Magnaflow Muffler...need to know what else
I am running a stock exhaust set up on my car right now and I want to change it out to something deeper and throatier. But do not want to spend the money of getting a full on cat back system.
I found a good magnaflow muffler online for my car part number MPE-12265 on www.summitracing.com and I want to know what else do I need in order to properly fit this muffler on my set up.
Do I need new tail pipes, would anyone tail pipes work? The inlet/outlet is 2.5 inches all around (if they have a 3 inch inlet and outlet I'd like to know the problem is having the tailpipes)
I was gonna get a dynomax bullet muffler installed on my car today but the guy told me he couldn't do it because my muffler is in the rear and is a bit different. I didn't quite understand it either, he might've been yankin' my chain but nonetheless whatever. The bullet muffler as you know has two holes, my stock exhaust muffler has three outlets/inlets and its basically the shape of that magnaflow muffler I gave up earlier.
I am on an LO3 TBI motor, I'll be working on it all day tomorrow basically installing my new plugs, adjusting my TV cables, installing my fuel filter and replace if needed that old junky O2 sensor I have currently. I want a magnaflow muffler, I have decided, I'll probably build my own custom exhaust set up but I want my base to be magnaflow, I love the way they sound, I am not sure if they'll sound the same on my car as say on a Trans Am or Formula but nonetheless I still want it.

If you get the magnaflow with 2.5 inlet you should be okay, and he can reuse your stock pipes. you could actually use the 3", he'd just put a reducer in it.
As for the bullet muffler, it is easily installed in your car, however requires a little work to make the tailpipes dual exits. My bullet muffler is installed in the I-pipe, then the pipes split on top of the rear axle and exit on both sides in the back. I no longer have a muffler like yours at all.
And it will sound the same as those cars, provided that they're equipped with an L03 motor like yours. Horsepower and displacement is what changes the exhaust tone, so yours is going to sound like most other 305s out there.
