I need help!

Alright took my car to get the headers on and the mechanic told me that it could not be done because the set up was for one cat and I had two. I was like really no kidding! He said that one of the pipes would not reach because of the transmission but I have the stock trans. So I'm guessing that the guy just didn't want to convert it or didn't know what he was doing. He also mention that the air pipes would not reach and that he would have to bend or modify aswell. Thats when I just decide to leave and go some where else. Well after that I need more info from you guys that have converted to single cat. My headers should fit right? I have SLP 1 3/4 with air.

Strictly speaking, the header p/n must match your setup - i.e., the C.A.R.B. # has to be applicable for your vehicle. Strictly speaking, a single cat header p/n won't be applicable for a vehicle originally equiped with dual cats.

Since SLP doesn't sell dual cat headers anymore, you may be up the perverbial creek without benefit of paddle. Someone will say, "Modify them for dual cats," or, "convert to single cat." Problem there is the first one has the problem of the first paragraph, and the 2nd one will cause problems with an **** inspektor who looks in the book to see that there was no 3" single cat option in 1991.

i cant blame the tech for not wanting to do it, he could probably do more expensive jobs quicker. Ever think of doing it yourself? This could cost a lot of money in labor if pay someone to do it. The headers will fit, the guy just didnt want to do it or doesnt know all about the types of headers sold for camaros.

I would do it myself but I just dont have the time. Guess I'm going to have to convert it to single cat. About passing smog it's not a problem. Would any of you know a good shop where I could take it around Orange County in California?
