Will I need to burn a chip after installing headers?

Will I need to burn a chip after installing headers?

For driveability sake, I've heard no. But for performance sake I have heard yes. Does the 20hp gain come from the headers and a burnt/repro chip?

Shouldnt really need to for either reason. The airflow increase from just adding headers isnt that great. The ecm should see the slightly lean condition and correct it.

It is not needed but to get the most out of a set of headers or any mod, PROM tuning is required. The airflow increase IS significant. In fact most of these cars see upwards of a 10% gain in their VE. That alone will put some cars out of adjustment range. I am not sure about TPI cars but this is the case for TBI cars.
