headers for 92' 305TBI?

I have a 92 rs 305tbi, I was wondering what headers i could use without having to do any welding. Is there a y-pipe that goes with them so I dont have to replace the entire exhaust system?

Thanks

pete

Take a look at the sticky thread about headers.

Unfortunatley there is only one set of headers that come with a y-pipe that will bolt to your stock exhaust (2.25"). Edelbrock makes them. They aren't much better than stock because of the smal pipe diameter. You are better off waiting until you can get a complete exhaust tailored for a TPI car. The system will be a full 3".

Many will suggest the Hooker 2055's with a Catco 9118 cat and a cat back of your choice. If you select exhaust components tailored for '86 thru '92 TPI cars they will be a full 3" without any reducers necessary for LG4 and LO3 cars.

Will they work, yes. Will they mate to the stock cat, no. You may be better off waiting until you can replace the cat at the same time. If I were you I would buy the Hooker 2055's and scrap enough cash to buy a 3" cat. $120 will get you a 3" direct replacement TPI 3" cat and $70 or less can get you a universal slip fit 3" cat. Either one will work but the later may take a bit of welding to fab up correctly. To me buying the TBI specific Edelbrock header kit is a waste. You still have the small pipe size and the headers themselves aren't the best.
