I have a 1986 Camaro Z28 with an LG4 and a basic muffler shop exhaust with the cats deleted. I want to replace the exhaust for sure and possibly the headers but am completely clueless and to the differences in sound and differences in prices. I live in Indiana so cats arent really important and a possible bill might be passed in the future but my car would be grandfathered by then.

Can you guys suggest what are my best proven choices for an exhaust kit? Is there a drastic difference in sound between magnaflow and flowmaster? Is the cheapest and most reliable place to buy flowmaster direct from them? Is 3" to large for my engine and is it true that they rattle terribly? I have looked through this forum a bit but couldnt come to any conclusions. Thanks.

 

any aftermarket exhaust will be better than yours now. flowmaster is not verry popular here, but some do like them. i have flowmaster on my l98 and i dont care for the sound much. ive never heard of them "rattle". my exhaust rattles but it only did that after my header install, but gose away after warm up. i purchased mine from summit.
