I believe.. it's not for a 3rdgen f-body.

Seems more geared towards a g-body (regal/monte.. as it says right in the description)

Oh... I assumed that since it showed up in the search that it was intended for F-bodies. Guess I need to read more, huh? I didn't think that they would make duals from the factory like that.

It's not true-dual, anyway. It splits at the cat.

I ran through and found this when i looked up American Thunder Flowmasters for my L03 on summit racing.

Universal (application) No
Make CHEVROLET
Model CAMARO
Beginning Year 1989
Ending Year 1992
Engine Type V8
Liter 5.0
CID 305
Engine Size 5.0L/305
Engine Family Chevy small block Gen I
Transmission Automatic
Drivetrain RWD
Doors 2-door
Application Notes For models with dual catalytic converters.

Notice it says **Application Notes For models with dual catalytic converters. **

Does this mean it wont fit for my car?

You have to search for the version that isn't for dual cat cars.

Are you positive it will NOT fit my car? All the exhausts on summit are for duel but all the correct filters are set for the year and engine.

You don't have dual cats, right?

I found this and think it should work, I think it's odd that the desription says 86-91 cars and doesn't include the 92 model year, now I need help

I found the one you were talking about. My stock exhaust is a single pipe i see one cat. and then the car splits into two out the rear.

So should i go ahead and buy FLO-17233
even though it says for 1986-1991?

Thanks for your help man

* maybe if my dad buys this damn digital camera today i can take some pictures.

I'm 90% sure it'll work, go ahead and post a thread with the link and see what the "experts" think.

It matters how much money you want to spend and on what. If you have any q's you can PM me. As far as the expert thing I didn't mean anything by that, just saying that there is alot of so called "experts" out there . You may want to research a TPI, StealthRam, or LT1 conversion, maybe even a possible 350 swap because you would get more bang for your buck.

My car is going to stay a street car. I just want a few mods for it. My dad has the fast car in the family, his 97' Camaro SS. I love the LT1.

Wouldnt it be great for him to wake up one morning and see there is an L03 in his SS and an LT1 in my thirdgen?

Anyway this exhaust board is hard to find any useful information. Its all scattered everywhere.

Ok say I order the American Thunder that SuperGM showed me. What cat should I order and what size? Someone show me on summit please. How will it fit to my exhaust manifolds if its a bigger size cat? How will the American Thunders fit if there 3" and the cat is 2.6"?

ill be honest here. save your money. if you just want some better performance for cheap, buy yourself a used catback from an LS1 4th gen. it will fit with very little changes (i run one on my car). the more you spend the nicer the catback. i say this because flowmaster is HORRIBLE for performance. its strictly sound. in fact ive seen flow testing of a stock 4th gen Z28 muffler (i.e. NOT the SS or WS6 higher flowing muffler) that shows that it flows more than a comparable (meaning it fits fbodies) flowmaster. and for a few hundred dollars thats unacceptable.

i would pick up a stock catback from an LS1 ss or WS6 as they are the SLP Dual/dual catback. i have seen NUMEROUS ls1s make over 400rwhp with that catback so it will be plenty for most 3rd gens.

Question: How can it be horrible with performance if its 3" exhaust and it has the same shape as anything else?

j/w bro

____________

If I dont want to buy an exhaust from an LS1 which brand would give me the most bang for my buck?

the reason for the difference in performance is the baffling inside the flowmaster muffler itself. it has special baffling to get "that signature flowmaster sound". seriously though the same pieces they use to help create that sound are what kill its performance. think of your exhaust like a chain. it will only be as strong as its weakest point. you could have the nicest most expensive engine and headers but if you have a terrible muffler your not going to make as much power.

now what muffler? i personally got my bassani catback complete with a 3 inch cutout for $250. you cannot beat that deal. if i had to do it over again and i couldnt get that deal i would probably go one of two ways. a magnaflow catback off ebay (dont worry that they dont make a 3rd gen kit, like i said a competant exhaust shop can install it, mine did for 50 bucks cash) or iw ould pick up a 3 inch single inlet and single outlet borla muffler from jegs for about $220 and have a custom catback made with a single hidden tip. most say go with flowmaster (its crap trust me) or hooker. hooker is a great performing muffler but i dont care for the way it sounds.

2 1/4...same as the SWEET stock y-pipe, I'd almost run my exhaust through a garden hose than put that stuff back on.

i scrapped the cat on my LG4 and i didn't throw any codes.

if you have to get one, make sure its 3 inch....catco comes to mind.

I have hedman LTs and a flowmaster 3in catback. just fighting my hedman extensions...too low.

good luck!
