If I need to quiet down exhaust....

1) would these do it?

2) would they kill horsepower at all?

Here is their specs:

2.5" 304 stainless tube inlet and outlet

4" diameter body

2-5/8" internal diameter (perf tube with fiberglass sound material)

14" length of resonator

Sorry to bring this back up, but ANY help is appreciated.

I want to achieve an exhaust that is as near stock quiet as possible (still trying to keep that "its just an RS with a 305" sleeper thing going), yet not completely smother my 383.

Right now I have Edelbrock TES Headers (I know there are better ones out there but these work for me), a catco cat, and stock 2.75 inch exhaust for an 89 Iroc (single cat), as well as a stock replacement muffler. This is nice and quiet, but man does it suck up horsepower.

I am thinking about puting my 3" mandrel bent pipe I have laying around from a Flowmaster American Thunder setup, then feed that into either a SLP muffler from a 2002 SS Camaro or a Borla Pro XS muffler-heard this is relatively quiet in another post you guys helped me on (depends which one I can get cheaper), and then through the tailpipes I mentioned in this post.

I know I just expanded this question into several, but I really would appreciate your feedback on wether or not you think this will accomplish my goal.

That far down in the exhaust system, adding mufflers isn't going to do much for you. The closer you can get the muffler(s) to the engine itself, the better the result. I'd say put a small muffler just after the cat on your system, and that should make a pretty nice difference.

I would say a 2.75" exhaust on a 383 will smother it much more than probably any muffler.

I have a very high reving 383 and I am considering/ making nothing short of dual 3" with bullets and dumps. No way in hell I am gonna have my pipes take away power. I have seen dyno sheets with guys losing 75 HP......

10 or 15 ok I can deal but 75 is like a small N20 shot. dual 3" all the way.
