Its a flowtech header. I'd buy one for a 305 They don't offer a y pipe for it either (atleast not that I could find) so you have to go custom. I bought a set when I was planning on doing my 305 up, there now on my 355. First thing to change when I get it all straightened away. Mine were a nice peice physically though. Nice and flat, and the welds looked pretty good. They installed faster and easier then it was to take the old manifolds off. Only downfall I could find on mine was the size of the tubing.

they do have a y pipe. its $96, you just have to ask for it. i think thats the way im going to go, until the future im also going with the hooker cat back system, only cat back i could find to fit my 84.

The integral question here is whether or not you're planning on sticking with the 305.

Well if you don't play on keeping it, then yeah, do whatever you want.

Don't buy those headers. They are terrible and the cheap cost you pay upfront will be masked over by the cost of buying quality gaskets and bolts (that will be needed with those headers). The flanges (head and collector) will be bent or will bend and the crap 2.5" y-pipe will not bolt up to either your stock cat or to a 3" cat (which is what you want). I would save up a little more money and buy a set of headers (SLP, Mac, Hooker 2055's) that cost more initialy but will save you in the long run. Those sets come with 3" ypipes that can be mated to a 3" cat which in turn will mate to your 3" cat-back of choice. They also come with decent gaskets and bolts that can be used right out of the box.

Refer to this thread for more info on the blowtechs.

Worst header choice for these cars

They seem to have quality control issues. IMHO people bitch about the gaskets because they are improperly installed. I do agree with shifty though, your better to lay out more at the beginning, if you can afford too.

alright, im going to get the 2055s but i think im just going to buy a flowmaster muffler for now. question is, will the 2055s bolt up to my 84 cat? ive heard you have to buy a new cat.

I also agree with Shifty. There is a lot of information available on headers.

Nope, your stock piping is 2 1/4" and the 2055s end at 3". You'll definately want a new high-flow cat for this operation, not only so it will physically work with the headers, but also because you'll want to take advantage of the fact that it will support the extra flow the headers create. The stock cat probably flows terrible, considering it's, at best, 22 years old technology.

any ideas on affordable cats? since im going with the 2055s im going to have to sacrifice getting a cat back system. is it possible to use the stock pipes and just buy a new high flow cat and muffler?

I got a Catco 9118 catalytic convertor. It cost about $100. There are cheaper out there, though... that's just what I went with.
