recommend me a muffler

Been doing research and I'm aware of all the brands but so far I'm leaning more towards Edelbrock. What do you guys think i should get for my factory exhaust on my 305 carb'd 305? I don't want it to be loud when idling and when I step on it, I don't want that raspy loud sounds. I"m going for a very deep growl. What do you guys think?

Sounds like you want a Magnaflow muffler. Very quiet at idle and cruising, and when you step on it it's not incredibly loud but it's DEEP sounding.

I like my Hooker muffler, it sound exactly like what you are describing.

The muffler is not as "deep" as I thought it was going to be, but I sum that up to having a nearly stock 305... what can I expect, right?

Anyway, I recommend a Hooker muffler. Great performance and sound for the price.

Hooker.

My Magnaflow has that "clapping" noise around 2200-2800 WOT. The Hooker I have on my 383 is deeper and smoother.

I bought a complete exhaust system for mine from pace setter. 3inches. I got it on ebay brand new from the supplier for 305 dollars. Great improvement and sound! I would recomend you this.

you should check into the chambered mufflers, otherwise known as GMMG. do a and you'll find an audio file with it installed on someone's car. sounds crazy. summit sells the muffs.

I like my V-Force muffler on my 350 TPI. It has a deeper sound and isn't as loud as the Edelbrock.

Just my 2 cents.

Hope this helps!

I'm running a magnaflow and I have no complaints. Idles fairly quietly but still has a low rumble to it. I can hear the car idling better inside the house than I can outside the house. It defiantly gets loud at WOT but it's not crazy loud by any means. Very nice roar to it.

The only slight downside is that every once in a great while after romping on it then suddenly getting off the gas the exhaust will do a single pop type of thing. This is probably because I'm running a little on the rich side and am experiencing afterburn (or whatever you want to call it).

Stock (basically) L98 too.

I look foward to what adding headers will do to the sound of it.
