Headman Y-Pipe 17470 and Moroso 20182 Oil Pan WONT Work with Eachother???

i swapped in a 383 and put on a moroso 6 qt pan and was planning on reusing my headman shorties (68470) and y-pipe but come to find out the y pipe wont line up because it hits the oil pan!!! im going to try to dent the **** out of it because i cant afford an entire exhaust yet.

has anyone else had or heard of this problem??? any advice?

buy some flex pipe for now to keep the heat off the oil pan--cooked oil will not help the engine blood life

just an opion

lol

Your SOL like the rest of is with milidon or moroso pans.

Its really really close but y-pipes made for stock pan dont cut it.

More than likely you will end up crushing the pipe to gain clearance for the oil pan to crossmember clearance.

U dont have to crush it per say, just ovalize it or use ovalized tubing there if u want to keep like 2.5 inch pipe all the way thru to the y.

later

i used to run the same setup.
my buddy does exhaust work and we modified it to work.

bolt up the pasenger side flange completely and heat the drivers side pipe.
bend it down a couple of inches then extend the collector back up to the header collector.
works like a champ.

however, my problem is i cant bolt ANY side up...even just trying to bolt up the pass side without the drivers piece slipped in, it wont fit!

well, i can give you some advice there if it helps.

cut the flanges off and bolt them to the headers.
get the y pipe bolted up to the catback, then just cut a couple of pieces of pipe to extend them and weld them in place.

yea that helps...i can try that but still another problem. the drivers side flange also interferes with the oil pan, i think i would have to dent that piece to get it to clear

good help defenitly so far...keep it comin!

what part # is your pan. i cant imagine the collector hitting the pan.

a dent wouldnt hurt tho, just be very careful, the moroso pans are THIN to the extreme.

dang.
what about grinding on the flange a bit?
is it near a bolt hole, or just metal.
shave it down a bit if you can before dinging the pan.
dont give up!

the flange is connected to a piece of pipe that is bent and taht piece slips into the ypipe to make fitting the ypipe easier. the bend on the piep the flage is attached to is touching the pan...
i might be able to straighten out the bend but its going to be a really tight fit, really tight
