Emissions and duals

Has anyone done duals with full emissions equipment?
And is it possible to get custom parts certified for California legality?

Any help would be nice.

Haven't done it, but shorty headers with dual cats would be legal. What you do after the cats is a safety issue, not an emissions issue.

Certification is a drawn-out, expensive process. That's why you don't see more stuff for emissions-required cars. Replacement parts are a different matter, and what most companies pursue.

Oh, in order for dual cats to be legal, you'd have to have a TPI system that was offered with them. So, you're talking about a motor change process in an RS originally equipped with an LO3.

but it is possible. I'm talking getting a whole engine combo made emisiions legal because the parts all have the required emissions equipment and will be running in the legal area as far as gases go.

Magnaflow offers dual cat converter set up that might help. maybe cut the collector and put an x-pipe in and continue the dual exhaust set-up

You would get better answers from the CA Smogcheck people here:

http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/stdhome.asp

Call up your local office, or drive to them, and ask.

Getting a part certified for California is a long and expensive process. They wont test your whole engine, they will make you test each part separately, and you'll have to pay the fee for every test. Last I heard it was like $3500, each.
