headers leaking, flange rubbing
I just did a 305-350 swap in my '92 RS, and the first set of headers I bought, Hookers, the drivers side fit perfect, and on the passenger side the flange hit the frame. So I sent those back. Got me a pair of Flowtechs, and they fit. Kinda. The passenger side(which previously didn't fit with the Hookers)DID fit, and after some muscle-ing past the steering column, the driver's sife fit. But they didn't seem to line up right and now there's only 3 or 4 bolts in each side, so they're leaking and I get this annoying lawnmower sound when I accelerate. The place I took the car to get the y-pipe attached said they don't do headers on my car because it's a pain(a**shole!)on 3rd gens. I also have a loud vibration on the passenger side from the header's flange rubbing up against an unessecarily long bolt. I know I could probably sawsall the bolt, but any opinions or suggestions on any of this? I'm really at a loss, I've had two other people look at it, besides taking it to the shop, and besides myself fiddling with it for hours. It's just so damn annoying when crap doesn't work like it should.

Welcome to the boards. It sounds like you have worn motor mounts. Your headers should not touch the frame. The hooker headers are far superior in every way to the Flowtechs. I hope you still have them. I would replace your motor and tranny mounts. You will be suprised how much difference that will make.

Also remeber when you get them new mounts .....
You can take offf or loosen the steering shaft to get that drivers side header in there.
