a simple search through jegs or summit will tell you what is available.

i will always suggest to those getting headers to go ahead and get a GOOD set, instead of just the cheap ones, that way your not spending your money twice. get the Hooker Shorties and y-pipe part number 2055. they come with the headers and y-pipe for $380. they are absolutely the best shortie header on the market.

get a high flow cat of choice (if emissions in your area requires, if not, skip this step) those will be around $100-$200

from there, the catback is really up to your personal preference in sound and looks. DEFINITELY get a 3" catback, anything smaller is going to really hinder the potential of your motor. i'm a big fan of the Flowmaster Force II catback as it's 3" all the way back and has a single in/single out muffler in the stock location with 1 hideaway style tailpipe. has a very nice tone that screams when you stomp the loud pedal but is very humble at idle. it's right around $230. but, for a bit more money you can get a hooker or flowmaster American Thunder or other catback with two pipes coming out of a cross-flow style muffler.

ease of installation? well i can do it, on a scale of 1-10, i'd give it a 4, but a 10 for me would be installing a 25.1 SFI cert. cage in the car...

now, i've answered your questions, but can you please do something for me? we have a VERY cool feature called SEARCH. it works well and will find almost all of the newbie answers you can think of.

In additon to what MV stated you can purchase new exhaust hangers at most auto parts stores. The new exhaust parts that you buy will have all the attchments on them. You will just have to retain the OEM rubber hangers.

As for price, plan on at least $700 to $1000 for quality new parts (headers back). Going used can save you a lot of coin. Depending on what parts you choose there may be a few areas that need fabrication (universal cat to hangers and y-pipe). If you buy youw hole system based on an '86 or later TPI car everything should bolt right up.

Headers and free flowing (and larger pipe size) exhaust components will greatly increase the power that your car makes. Doing so increasing the efficiency of your motor which in turn yields more power.

you will also see an increase in throttle response, and if you have decent driving habits, an increase in fuel economy.

it'll cost a solid $500+ to get it ALL installed professionally, but it's REALLY not that hard to do. just take your time, remember where all the stuff went. you and a buddy can have it done in a weekend. and it's OK to take 6 months to save up for the stuff if you need to. nobody is rushing you, other than maybe yourself.

my header and ypipe install was about 300bucks.

the headers with jet hot coating was about 500 bucks and the catback was 330.

if i could do it all again, i would have got a custom better flowing exhaust system. u could piece together any muffler and pipe size together to make a catback for about the same price as aftermarket kits.

It is hard to peice a set together. 99% of all shops don't have mandrel benders and the universal bends that you can buy require a lot of cutting and test fitting. Something a novice modder may not be willing to attempt. In the end they will more than like spend more.
