How hard is it to insall headers on 350TPI?

I used the search function and can`t seem to get a clear answer.I`m wanting to install headers on my `92 with the 350TPI in it.How difficult is this job to do yourself?I`ve done this stuff before but this damn car is very cluttered with emissions equipment.I know I`m prolly gonna remove the air tubes as I want to clean the engine bay up.How exactly do I go about removing all this crap, air pump included. After I get all this stuff out of the way how do I go about installing the headers?Any tips or tricks to make the job easier? Also I think I`m sold on the shorty style headers as they seem to be easier to install. Is this true?Sorry for all the ?`s in one post.It beats filling up the forum with a lot of wasted space. Thanks for any help and advice you can give me.

There are good write-ups here on the site for installing headers. As for how difficult it is.. if it's your first time set aside an entire day for working on it. And PBBlaster is your friend. Use it liberally.

Generally, shorties on our cars are going to require fewer/none modifications. Unless you get the SLP 1 3/4" shorties, those may or may not require denting of one primary to clear the steering shaft. I consider the best shorty headers for our cars either the Hooker 2055s, SLP 1 5/8s or SLP 1 3/4s. The Hookers are the only ones with a true 2.5" to 3" ypipe. SLP told me theirs is 2.5" to 3", but I've seen pics of people measuring theirs, and they are more like 2.25" OD. Expect to have to unbolt a motor mount and jack up the engine to get the headers in, although not all brands require that method. As far as the smog removal, instructions are here...https://www.thirdgen.org/serpentine

check out my thread in here i just bumped it up to the top. alot of good help in there for ya.

and i have worked on mine for about 4 hours and the biggest problem i had was getting the bolts off the exhaust manifolds b/c there was a little clip right up agains the bolt that i had to take some pliers too and move out of the way to get the socket on... not a big deal but i couldnt figure out what why i couldnt get the socket on there after looking at it for a while real close i figured out the problem. the heat shields are also no fun.

all in all you need to remove the dipstick plugs wires and i unbolted the ac compressor and moved it to the side and moved the diverter valve to the side as well.

Take the opportunity to change your plugs and wires with relative ease too. You'll be happy you did
