ok ok, ive heard i shoudl put a 3" on my 88 350 carbed. But i cant find a header to y-pipe connection that stays 3" all the way back. my question do i have to get a y-pipe made or is there someplace i can buy this if anyone has an answer for me please help, i build backwards i did intake first now i have to let the exhaust out. any one have a combination that works well or do i have to go custom

You don't need a y-pipe that is 3" from the collectors on. 2-1/2" from each side is fine. You do want, however, 3" after the two banks come together.
The only company that makes a y-pipe for our cars that is a full 3" after the two banks join is Hooker, with their 2055HKR headers. They come as a set, shorty headers and y-pipe. '86-'90 TPI single-cat application exhaust will fit directly to the y-pipe. If you don't want/need a cat or the A.I.R., you can cut off the A.I.R. pipes and weld the primaries closed (I did this myself), and put in a piece of 3" pipe instead of the cat (ditto).
