Intermediate pipe questions
After taking my 86 iroc out of storage, i noticed that the pipe running from the cat to the muffler is shot and will not pass inspection. I remember seeing an aftermarket piece that was 3" and manderal bent but i cant seem to find it again. I would get a piece bent but no one in my area can bend 3" tubes. My stock muffler is still fine, but if i have to go with a catback set up id like to retain the stock tailpipe locations and looks. Do any of these kits exist with a muffler that has a 3" inlet? And could anyone tell me what id be getting into if i would do it myself? I was thinking about jacking the car up on my subframe connectors. and letting the axle hang to try to give me enough clearance to get the exhaust bend up and over the axle, or even unbolting an the lca to get some more clearance. I tried to browse the forums for info but im connected at 22kbps

most of the kits available for these now are 3" kits, i know for just the int pipe walker(dynomax) makes a 2 piece, it runs like 170 or so, imco is what i have on mine 3" one piece i picked it up through a local shop for 80 bucks, its not mandrel bent but as my guy says, unless your making 600+ there is no need for 3" so 3" non mandrel bent makes no difference at all, mine flows damn good with the headers, ypipe, 3" catco cat and int pipe into a classic chambered muffler

but second, most catbacks have factory style muffler and exits. I had the Flowmaster 80 series in a true 3inch inlet and dual 3inch outs. the catback was really easy to install and sounded good. everything bolts up and slips together. it takes alittle while for the muffler to break in to sound its greatest, but after it does, its a nice sound. not all that loud either.
another good popular option is hooker aero chamber. i think they have stock style exits too. not 100% sure tho.
as far as doing it yourself... buying seperate 3inch tubes and some bends...i'm not sure how you would bend the pipes but if your good at welding and measuring i'm sure you can fab up that I pipe section, and bend it over the axle
