muffler location change exhaust sound?
iv been looking at chambered exhaust for my 85 T/A and i was thinking of putting the powerstick which is what i am looking at in the I-pipe, but i was wondering if the location of the powerstick would make the exhaust note change if it was in the I-pipe vs the stock location of the exhaust, or even straight out the back like tail pipes one muffler on each side, i herd a clip of the muffler where the tail pipes are and it souned very loud.as the sound travels thew the pipes if it was in the I-pipe maby the sound would change vs the sock where it exits right away, whats your guys opinion on this.

from what ive experienced, With the muffler and turndowns or no tailpiping really, its bassier but really has no tone at all to it, and when i have tailpiping it gave it a real hollow "mustangish" tone to it. Idk, i kinda prefer to have some decent piping after the muffler.

Changine anything with the exhaust changes the sound. Even adding different tips can change the sound because everything resonates differently. It's the same with stereo systems. Put a sub in a hatchback and it'll sound completely different than in a trunk of another car! That's why opinions in the car-stereo world and exhaust world mean jack squat. Sure blowmasters sound good on a mustang but most 3rd gen owerns that have tried them hate em after a while... same reasons.
Universally having tail-pipes after the muffler make the exhaust sound "better" especially if the mufflers are right under the cabin area like on a mustang or b-body.

why i asked is because i know corvettes have TD and mustangs do to but if you notice the exhaust is literaly at the back of the car then tail pipes same on the new mustangs and the corvettes and stangs always have sounded good. now TD is yes different sound but thats not what brought my attention its the location of the muffler, the money isn't an issue to me for exhaust because i wante the best i can get so if its better to put 2 powersticks say in the stock location vs I-pipe then i might do that. look at GMMG im sure they thought about this when they were making there exhaust.

I got a Thrush Magnum glasspack right after the cat, the stock cat, so it would sound deeper if I had a pipe going from the muffler out to the very end of the car ?

my buddy has an 89 iroc and the previous owner cut off the converters and installed glasspacks in their places and they routed the 2 1/2 inch piping all the way to the back. It's loud as all hell but it's really raspy. I personally don't like it but I don't like street cars obnoxiously loud.
